Shonda Rhimes’ new Netflix show “Bridgerton” has been picked up for a second season.

“Bridgerton,” tells the story of “eight close-knit siblings of the powerful Bridgerton family attempt to find love.” And the beloved tale has officially been renewed for season 2. The series stars Regé-Jean Page, Phoebe Dynevor, Nicola Coughlan, Jonathon Bailey,  more. The series is based on Julia Quinn’s best-selling novels, and legendary actress Julie Andrews narrates it.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the second season will begin production in spring 2021 in London. The announcement comes after Quinn’s best-selling novels received outstanding, positive reviews. Netflix says the show was on track to be seen by 63 million households across its first 28 days of release. “Bridgerton” also has a 90 percent and 83 percent rating amongst critics and viewers, THR reports.

This is Rhimes’ first show on Netflix, and Rhimes and her partner Betsy Beers are reportedly planning to create a lot more content for the streaming platform. One of the projects fans can look forward to is a drama called “Inventing Anna,” which is set to premiere this year. Other projects include “Recursion,” “The Warmth of Other Suns,” “Reset,” “The Residence,” and more.

Rhimes is the executive producer of Bridgeton while still maintaining her EP position on her ongoing medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy.” “Bridgerton” showrunner Chris Van Dusen is hoping the series lasts for eight seasons.
