Last week, TMZ reported that rapper Too Short was sued by a woman named Teana, who alleges he sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions in 2016. She is suing for sexual battery, sexual harassment, gender violence, gender discrimination and false imprisonment. Those claims are allegations and have not been proven in court.
Now Too Short is responding. He spoke with TMZ and denied the claims, calling the lawsuit extortion. “This is just blatant, outright extortion. I’m being extorted. It’s not a criminal case; it’s something that stems from over a year ago,” he told the outlet. “They want money.”
The 51 year old rapper said he plans to countersue for slander and to seek a restraining order. He told TMZ he believes the lawsuit is tied to a signing deal that fell through, saying he had intended to sign her to his label but things did not work out.
When asked whether the two had ever been consensually involved, Too Short told TMZ, “We did not ever have sex. She was not raped. The most we ever did was foreplay. Consent is starting to be a very fine line, and there’s nothing that I would ever do that’s not consensual.”
The plaintiff’s side of the story is outlined in her court filing, and no court has ruled on either side’s claims.
