Being married to a hip-hop icon and sex symbol isn’t for the weak, and Simone Smith knows that firsthand.
On the Banking on Cultura podcast, LL Cool J’s wife opened up about the work it takes to sustain their 29-year marriage, admitting that personal growth, faith, and confidence were key.

In the beginning, she struggled with jealousy. “I used to get upset when women looked at him a certain way, but that was years ago,” she admitted.
Then, LL’s cousin gave her a book—The Power of a Praying Wife—and everything shifted. That’s when she realized the only person she could change was herself. “The closer you get to God, the more you understand your purpose.”
While she has no problem with people admiring LL, she made it clear that respect is a must. “The disrespect—I can’t deal with. At 54, I’m ready to take off the hoops,” she joked.
Despite being with one of hip-hop’s biggest heartthrobs since 1987, Simone never felt the need to monitor his every move.
Instead, she focused on making their home a sanctuary. Nearly three decades later, their love is still going strong.
