Singer Sinéad O’Connor has been hospitalized following a series of suicidal tweets following the suicide death of her son last week.

The Grammy-nominated star has been struggling since her 17-year-old son Shane disappeared from an Irish hospital, where he was being held on suicide watch. Sadly, his body was located on January 7th. O’Connor confirmed that he’d taken his own life.

On Thursday, the 55-year-old took to Twitter to inform her fans that she could not bear living without her child, writing, “I’ve decided to follow my son.” The disturbing thread also found the singer blaming herself for Shane’s death.

“Shane’s death is no one’s fault but mine,” she shared. Later in the thread, she wrote, “God made me wrong. So I’m sending myself back, and I’m finding the only person on this earth who ever truly loved me.”

Nearly an hour after the alarming tweets, the 90’s star apologized for scaring her followers and confirmed that she was heading to a hospital to get help for her mental health issues. Though she agreed to receive aid, O’Connor suggested that she may still take her life to join her son.

“Hospital will help a while. But I’m going to find Shane. This is just a delay.” Her Twitter account, OhSineady, has since been deactivated, though a verified account still exists for her, though no tweets have been posted since November,

Sinéad O’Connor has three other children. However, according to the thread, her relationship with them is strained. She has been open with her mental health battle over the years, having previously been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, and borderline personality disorder.

The Irish vocalist rose to fame in 1990 when she released “Nothing Compares 2 U,” which became a platinum-selling hit record.
