Skai Jackson Just Drew The Line On Family And Finances — She's Not The First Celeb To Run A Strict Money Program

Skai Jackson has zero interest in playing ATM for the people in her life, and she’s not shy about it. The former Disney star, best known for her role as Zuri Ross on “Jessie,” made her position crystal clear in a recent interview with Justin Laboy.

When asked how she finds the strength to turn down financial requests, Jackson didn’t sugarcoat it: “I just say no. If you just say no, there’s no response.” She also drew a firm line between real friends and opportunists: “People real close to me, like my best, best friends, they have never even asked me for money.” As for distant acquaintances who slide into her DMs with emergencies? “That’s not my problem,” the 24-year-old said flatly.

Skai Jackson reveals that she instantly DENIES requests from family members & friends who ask her money because its “not her problem” and says the most expensive thing she bought a man is food 💀🤣👀 pic.twitter.com/uiEOYbzb7N

Jackson is far from alone. A growing number of celebrities have gone on record drawing hard lines around their money — some even cutting off blood relatives in the process.

Other Celebs Have Drawn The Line

Billionaire filmmaker Tyler Perry took it further than a simple “no.” During an appearance on Kirk Franklin’s YouTube series “Den of Kings,” Perry described how years of fielding money requests from his aunt eventually led him to offer her a job instead of a handout. “I want to help you build this thing, not be welfare to you,” he told her. When she repeatedly failed to show up for work, he cut her off entirely.

“You want me to hand you the money, but you don’t want to work for it. That doesn’t work for me,” Perry said. After his mother’s death in 2009, he sent letters to other relatives giving them 60 days to find employment before he stopped supporting them financially — and by his account, they all got jobs.

Baton Rouge rapper Boosie Badazz got brutally honest about the math when he weighed in on GloRilla‘s public family money dispute earlier this year. The Louisiana rapper broke it down plainly: “I give each of y’all a hundred thousand, I’m broke,” pointing out he has seven siblings and two living parents. “If we get everybody, we gonna be broke.” He added that while artists should look out for family when they’re able, they’re rarely sitting on the kind of money people assume.

The GloRilla situation itself became one of 2026‘s most talked-about celebrity family money feuds. After her sister Scar Face publicly accused her of financial neglect, GloRilla fired back during an Instagram Live, demanding privacy and telling her sister to “keep my family out of it, and keep me out of it.” Scar Face had claimed the rapper hadn’t given the family a dime despite being “on for four years,” a charge GloRilla disputed by posting what appeared to be a supportive text exchange with their mother.

From Hollywood to hip-hop, the message keeps repeating itself: success doesn’t come with an unlimited family tab.
