Snoop Dogg recently opened up about why he remained silent during the presidential election. The rapper explained that politics often divide people, something he does not want to be a part of.
“I’m not looking for separation. I’m not looking for division. I’m looking for people to come together. And I just want to say this, when all of the hoopla was going on with the voting, notice I was nowhere to be seen,” Snoop said during a group discussion. “I don’t believe in separating people. I believe in bringing us together…Because if you’re picking and choosing, now I’ve got to make people mad at me because I chose this or chose that.”
Snoop has notably stayed quiet on government issues in recent years. While he has previously criticized Donald Trump and his supporters for their racist views, some believed he might have supported the controversial president after he expressed “love and support” for him back in September. However, the West Coast star is now making it clear that he does not align with either political party.
“I don’t choose neither one. Honestly, I don’t represent the Republican Party or the Democratic Party. I represent the motherf**king gangster party,” Snoop concluded.
