Snoop Dogg visited a Clubhouse room to announce some big news for his new acclaimed record label, Death Row Records.

He says in the clip, “Death Row will be an NFT label.

“We will be putting out artists through the metaverse. Just like we broke the industry when we was the first independent [label] to be major, I want to be the first major [label] in the metaverse.” NFTs (non-fungible tokens) are a type of crypto technology.

According to MI College of Contemporary Music, “Instead of exchanging cryptocurrencies, artists exchange NFTs. These come in concert tickets, limited-edition experiences, digital content, merchandise, and music. Fans participate in auctions for these tokens, and the highest bidders receive the content in their digital wallets in a secure transaction.”

The news comes after Snoop Dog acquired Death Row Records last week. He said in a statement, “I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped future value. It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members.”

The rapper recently partnered with Gala Games for the release of his album B.O.D.R. (Bacc on Death Row).
