Anyone with a pint of So Delicious Salted Caramel Cluster sitting in the freezer may want to check the bottom of the container before taking another bite.
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration recall notice, Danone USA voluntarily recalled certain So Delicious Dairy Free Salted Caramel Cluster Non Dairy Frozen Dessert pints on September 15, 2026. The company said the affected product could contain foreign material inside its cashew inclusions, including “small stones and other hard objects.”
The So Delicious recall covers pints with best-by dates on or before April 3, 2028. According to the FDA, shoppers should look for SKU 136603 and UPC 744473476138 when checking their freezers. The affected frozen dessert was distributed to retail stores across the United States.
The recall has reached major retailers. Target’s product listing confirms that its Salted Caramel Cluster Cashewmilk Frozen Dessert carries UPC 744473476138, matching the number listed in the recall.
Danone said the problem came to light after consumer complaints. The FDA notice states that the agency was informed about the voluntary recall and that Danone is working with retail partners to remove the affected pints from shelves. The company also said unaffected products remain available and future shipments are not impacted by the So Delicious recall.
For shoppers wondering whether the warning applies to another flavor in the freezer, the company says the recall is limited to Salted Caramel Cluster. In a statement provided to The Independent, a Danone USA representative said the recall “is limited to this one product. No other So Delicious Dairy Free codes, flavors or products are affected.”
So Delicious has also posted its own consumer notice. According to the company’s recall information, customers should not eat an affected pint and should dispose of it. So Delicious says it has identified and corrected the issue and is working with retail partners to remove impacted products.
The potential danger goes beyond an unpleasant surprise in a spoonful of dessert. According to the Hawaii Department of Health, hard or sharp objects in food can cause injuries including cuts or perforations involving the mouth, tongue, throat, stomach and intestines. They can also damage teeth and gums. Hawaii health officials said no injuries or illnesses connected with the current recall had been reported in the state as of September 16.
This is also not the first time this particular So Delicious flavor has faced a foreign material recall.
A December 2025 announcement from Danone USA shows that the company previously recalled the same Salted Caramel Cluster frozen dessert after raising concerns about foreign material, including small stones and other hard objects within the cashew inclusions. That earlier recall involved the same SKU and UPC, but covered pints with best-by dates before August 8, 2027.
The September 2026 So Delicious recall covers a later range of dates, reaching products marked through April 3, 2028. Danone’s current announcement does not describe the action as an expansion of the December recall, so consumers should rely on the identification information in the latest notice rather than assuming an older recall notice covers everything now affected.
Customers with a recalled pint should not consume it. According to the FDA notice, consumers seeking a refund or replacement coupon can call the So Delicious Dairy Free Consumer Care Line at 1 833 367 8975. Specialists are available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Eastern time, and consumers can also contact the company through its online form.
For consumers who regularly stock dairy-free frozen desserts, the repeat recall involving the same flavor makes checking those numbers especially important. The current FDA notice is specific to the Salted Caramel Cluster product, and Danone says other So Delicious flavors and products are not part of the recall.
