Back in July of 2019, Soulja Boy was released from prison after spending more than three months behind bars.
The rapper’s stint came as a result of a probation violation, in which Soulja was sentenced to 240 days in jail with an additional 265 days of community service. But after three months of good behavior, the rapper was released.
However, upon his return to the real world, the rapper took a step back from social media to attend to his health and self-care. But now, just eight months later, Soulja Boy is back and better than ever.
In a recent interview with Baller Alert, the rapper opened up about his social media hiatus and shared details about his new projects.
“It felt good,” he said of his hiatus. “Everything move so fast these days, just gotta take a little break sometimes.”
As he continued, he explained how he spent his time away from the ‘Gram. “Just working, man,” he said, “Putting together the multibillion-dollar plans, working on a new album, new music, new everything.”
“I’m trying to work on doing movies, they been calling me to do a lot of tv shows, but I’m like, ‘I wanna do movies,” Soulja said. “I want to get into acting.”
Prior to his time in jail, Soulja Boy claimed to have one of the biggest comebacks of the year, complete with several viral moments and more. However, as his legal troubles piled up, his celebrity status took a hit. But now, he says he’s in a different headspace, much more mature and ready to be about his business.
“I feel like, man. Just growth. I been in the industry since I was a little kid, so it’s like being in the industry that long now it’s just like I’m focused.”
