Mel B is speaking out about a scary health episode, and she wants the record set straight.

According to The Sun, the 43 year old singer went to the hospital on Friday after saying she had lost sight in her right eye. She had reportedly been preparing for the upcoming Spice Girls tour. A source later told PEOPLE that she was doing fine, had been given eye drops, and had returned to rehearsals, which the source said were going well.

Mel B responded on Instagram and disputed the way the story was being described. She said she had an awful experience last week when she went blind in her right eye and her left eye went blurry. She said she was in a lot of pain and very scared, and she thanked the eye specialists who treated her in London and at a hospital in Luton.

She also said she was diagnosed with iritis in her right eye and uveitis in her left eye. She is taking prescription eye drops and other medication daily to keep the inflammation under control, and expects to be dealing with it for the next few months. She added that she is no longer worried about it getting worse, and joked that she needs a really cool eye patch.

She also said that what was reported about this having happened to her many times before was not accurate, and that she was not okay when it happened.

The Spice Girls tour has 13 dates, starting in Dublin, Ireland, on Friday and ending June 15 in London.
