A 19-year-old Rock Hill, South Carolina woman was fatally shot in her own front yard Saturday night — the deadly end to a week-long campaign of threats and gunfire that her family says police were repeatedly warned about.

Camariya Tidwell was found shot outside her family’s home on Mount Gallant Road near the U.S. 21 Bypass around 11 p.m. on May 16. Rock Hill Police Lt. Michael Chavis confirmed that Tidwell was not the intended target. “We do know that the victim was not the intended target,” Chavis said. “It was somebody else our suspect had an issue with, and he thought the best way to solve this was to engage in violence, which is horrendous.”
The family said the trouble began on May 12, when someone fired shots into the home — an incident that prompted them to install security cameras on May 13. Those cameras later captured suspect Sean Xavier Hubbard, 34, of Clover, firing a shotgun through the front door during a second attack earlier that same Saturday, when no one was home.
The dispute reportedly stemmed from a social media connection gone wrong. Cousin Jamya McCullough said: “I told him that I didn’t want him to work on my car. This man threatened me and I immediately blocked him.”
Brother Caleb Tidwell described escalating dread: “For a week straight, he stalked my family’s home. He terrorized my family.”
When officers left the area, the family believes Hubbard seized the moment.
“He circled the block, waited outside our home until police left and then came back,” Caleb said.
Tidwell’s mother, Shifarnia McCullough, is questioning why the suspect wasn’t found sooner.
“She didn’t hate nobody. She loved everybody. She was innocent — but you’re telling me now that she’s gone, ‘Oh, we found his address.’ Why didn’t you find his address four hours ago when he shot through my house?”
She remembered her daughter simply: “My daughter was kind, compassionate, she loved her dog Chucky, she loved her family.”
Hubbard was denied bond at a hearing Sunday. He faces charges of murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. The investigation remains ongoing.
