Appearing on the premiere episode of Hannity’s new podcast, “Hang Out with Sean Hannity,” the ESPN analyst addressed the rumors directly.
“Let me put the presidential aspirations to bed,” Smith said. “If I have to give up my money, it’s not happening.”
Smith explained that stepping away from his high-profile career in sports media would come with a major financial sacrifice, which makes a White House run unrealistic. Although he ruled himself out, Smith shared which political figures he believes could lead the country in the future. One name that stood out was Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
“He’s an adult in the room. There is no questioning his qualifications for the job,” Smith said.
Despite identifying as a Democrat, Smith said he would support Rubio over several prominent Democrats, including California Governor Gavin Newsom and former Vice President Kamala Harris.
However, Smith also pointed to two Democratic governors he believes could earn his vote: Maryland Governor Wes Moore and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.
