Stephon Marbury has reportedly paid the remaining money owed under an agreement with his former personal chef, Thurayyah, according to TMZ.
Earlier this year we covered the dispute. According to reports at the time, Marbury agreed to pay Thurayyah about $900,000 in connection with a relationship the two had in 2006, with the agreement including a promise that she keep quiet. Reports say he paid roughly $600,000 before the payments stopped in 2010. An arbitrator then reportedly awarded her the remaining $300,000, and the agreement was enforced in court.
TMZ reports that with late fees and interest, Marbury’s final payment came to $341,153.
Both sides have described the relationship differently. Thurayyah reportedly said she felt that keeping Marbury happy was part of keeping her job and characterized the situation as sexual harassment. Marbury has described the relationship as consensual, according to reports. At the time of this report, we had not seen any additional statement from Marbury or his representatives about the payment.
