Months after going viral for his alleged relationship with Victoria Monét, Stormzy is in the news for his alleged poor driving skills.

The British rapper has been banned from driving for nine months for using his mobile phone while behind the wheel. Stormzy, whose real name is Michael Ebenezer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr., pleaded guilty to the charge after an undercover officer spotted him driving his Rolls-Royce in London in March last year.

According to the court transcript, the officer told him, “Get rid of your tints and get off your phone.” The “Shut Up” star had also previously admitted to driving a Lamborghini Urus with illegally tinted windows.

Stormzy already had six points on his license before the ban and was fined over $2,000 for what was deemed “dangerous and irresponsible” behavior. Although he did not appear in court, the rapper apologized for his actions and had removed the illegal tints.

Stormzy is not the only rapper to face legal trouble for reckless driving. Playboi Carti was pulled over in 2022 for speeding at 133 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. When questioned, he explained, “I’m rushing because I had an emergency.” The officer dismissed his excuse and arrested him.

Similarly, YG was arrested in October for DUI after driving over a curb. A breathalyzer test confirmed his impairment.
