Students at a school in Alaska were served floor sealant instead of milk while at a summer school program.

On Tuesday at around 8:45 a.m., students at Sitʼ Eeti Shaanáx̱-Glacier Valley Elementary School in Juneau, Alaska, were served breakfast near an outside contractor named NANA Management Services (NMS). Things turned sour when the children started complaining that the milk served with their food tasted poorly and was burning their mouths and throats, CNN reports.

In a statement, the Juneau School District said after students complained, the district “immediately followed up by smelling/tasting the milk and looking at the container/label.” The district ended up discovering that the milk wasn’t milk at all.

“It was found that the ‘milk’ served was actually a floor sealant resembling liquid milk. Staff immediately directed students to stop consuming the substance and removed it.” All parents were contacted poison control was contacted. At least two children may have gone to doctors for medical insight following the incident.

An investigation put together by NMS is ongoing, CNN reports.

“We are supporting the full investigation, looking at every contributing factor to determine exactly what happened. This process is key to identifying potential safety measures and putting those safety measures to work,” the NMS statement reads.
