Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was taken to the hospital on Friday with an infection, ABC News reports.
The 73-year-old was transported to Sibley Memorial Hospital after experiencing flu-like symptoms, according to spokesperson Patricia McCabe. The infection was later diagnosed, and he is now taking intravenous antibiotics.

“His symptoms are abating, he is resting comfortably, and he expects to be released from the hospital in a day or two,” McCabe said, per the outlet. “Justice Thomas will participate in the consideration and discussion of any cases for which he is not present based on the briefs, transcripts, and audio of the oral arguments.”

Court officials say, Thomas, the second-oldest member of the Supreme Court and the most senior conservative, received his COVID-19 booster. However, he will not return to the court on Monday at 10 a.m.
