Suspect Accused Of Fatally Shooting A Man That Got Into The Wrong Car Released On Bond

WSBTV

The man accused of fatally shooting someone who accidentally got into his car at an Atlanta  gas station last December is now a free man after posting bond. The victim’s family doesn’t think it’s fair.

The shooting happened outside of a Shell Gas Station on December 12, 2022. Trayvon Dunnaviile’s mother told WSB-TV that her son was texting on his phone after exiting the gas station and got into a similar-looking vehicle parked near his car.

Video from that night shows Dunnaville open the passenger side door; moments later, he was shot four times. His pregnant fiancee was captured running over from their car.

South Fulton Police arrested Dericole Daniels for the shooting and charged him with misdemeanor voluntary manslaughter. Earlier this week, Daniels was released on a $150,000 bond.

“No, I don’t think it’s fair. No,” said Dunnaville’s mother, T.C., who asked not to be identified due to safety concerns.

She added, “I have not been able to sleep. I have not.

The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office released a statement regarding Daniel’s charges, noting that the investigation into Dunnvaille’s death is ongoing.

“Our office has an ongoing investigation regarding the matter,” It said. “If a decision is made to seek a felony indictment, this office will prosecute it in Superior Court. If the decision is made to leave it as a misdemeanor as the police cited it, it will be prosecuted in state court by the Solicitor’s Office.”
