Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert was knocked out in an altercation at a bar in Aberdeen, South Dakota, over the weekend, and police say a man has been arrested and charged.
The incident happened early Saturday, June 20. Security footage that surfaced on Sunday appears to show Goedert being punched after a confrontation, followed by a larger brawl while he lay on the ground. Goedert, who went to high school and college in South Dakota, was taken to a local hospital and treated for injuries that were not life threatening.
Aberdeen police said officers responded around 1:07 a.m. to the 1000 block of South Main Street for an assault. Their statement said an adult male had been punched in the face and was taken to Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was treated and released.
Police said the investigation led to the arrest of Kyle, 29, of Sarasota, Florida, who was charged with simple assault. According to ESPN, Kyle was in town for work and was released on a personal recognizance bond. He has been ordered to stay away from Goedert, and his court date is set for July 10. No statement from Kyle was reported.
Sources told reporters Goedert is doing fine and recovering at home.
