Michael, the half brother of Rae Sremmurd members Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi, was indicted earlier this year on a first degree murder charge in the death of Floyd Sullivan Jr., who raised the rappers from the time they were boys. An indictment is an accusation, and Michael has not been convicted.
Swae recently opened up about the loss on his new Snapchat series, Swae Meets World. He described what happened as “like something out of a movie” and shared a clip of himself and his mother, Bernadette, calling Michael in jail.
In the recorded call, Michael can be heard on speakerphone saying, “I wish I was out.” Swae answers, “Me too, everybody do.” Bernadette then asks Michael to share what was going through his mind that night, and he gives a brief response.
TMZ reported the call. If convicted, Michael could face a potential life sentence.
In the series premiere, Swae also spoke about how hard it was for many people to protect their mental health during the pandemic. “Everybody struggled in 2020, but it wasn’t just the pandemic for me,” he said. He added that his father passed away recently and that, according to police, his youngest brother is accused of the shooting. Swae said it is hard to believe and that he is still working through it.
