Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys have a nearly perfect relationship.
As they approach their 15th wedding anniversary, the producer, 46, reflected on their lasting bond, revealing that the secret to their marriage is friendship, communication, and choosing peace.
“We’ve never had an argument. Since we’ve been together, our kids [have] never seen it; never seen us raise our voice [or] never seen us yell,” Swizz told Us Weekly.
The couple, who first met as teenagers and married in July 2010, believe in respecting each other’s individuality. “People think they can own people. You can’t. It’s not property that you own,” Swizz explained.
“She’s her own boss. I’m my own boss. That’s how we make magic.” While they “disagree on things,” they choose to express differing views in a healthy way. “When you yell at each other, no one is really listening anyway.”
Beyond their marriage, Swizz and Keys are devoted parents. Swizz proudly shared that their son Egypt is excelling in basketball and music.
“He’s looking at the NBA… He’s always playing the piano, and my wife is giving him her gift.” He also celebrated his son Kasseem’s acceptance into NYU, calling it “a dream.”
