Actress Sydney Sweeney faces backlash after posting a photo of a family member wearing a Blue Lives Matter shirt at her mom’s birthday.
On Saturday, the Euphoria star posted photos to Instagram from her mother’s birthday party. The theme of the event was a country hoedown and everyone dressed in western attire.
The party seemed to be well-done but fans quickly noticed one of Sweeney’s family member wearing a Blue Lives Matter t-shirt. It did not take long for Twitter users to call out Sweeney and her family and even labeled them as “racist.” Check out what users had to say below:

However, Sweeney responded to the criticism and seemingly denied the assumption that her family was racist.
“You guys, this is wild. An innocent celebration for my moms milestone 60th birthday has turned into an absurd political statement, which was not the intention. Please stop making assumptions. Much love to everyone ♥️ and Happy Birthday, Mom!”
