SZA opened up to British Vogue about how fame has shifted her reality since breaking into the spotlight.

The SOS singer revealed that she often feels a deep sense of paranoia, especially in public spaces where fans might secretly record or photograph her.

“It always exposes the ego and vanity,” SZA admitted. “When you’re in historical [places] or beautiful nature and you’re like, ‘It’s clearly me.’ But that’s the psychosis of fame. It makes you so paranoid.”

“You’re not even in touch with reality, because you’re so scared,” she said of feeling disconnected from reality.

To stay grounded, SZA credits her friends and team for helping her navigate what the fans might want without diving too deep into online chatter.

“They keep me abreast of everything,” she explained. “I’ll be like, ‘Guys, should I delete this?’ They’ll be like, ‘No, you’re fine. But you should probably drop another version of that song because people want to hear that.’ They let me know so I don’t have to go look on the internet.”

It’s good to know that SZA is able to handle the pressures of fame by leaning on her support system to stay grounded and true to herself.
