SZA is stepping into the spotlight in a fresh way as the new Artistic Director of Vans. A longtime fan of Vans, especially the Knu Skool silhouette, she’s now diving headfirst into the creative engine of the brand as part of a multi-year partnership. The singer is set to “reimagine upcoming campaigns and co‑create exclusive product collections that fuse her unique vision with the brand’s creative and youthful spirit.” In the eyes of Vans, “in her, we see the essence of Off the Wall.”
Her first campaign under this new role centers the Knu Skool in a monochromatic finish, captured beautifully by photographer Sophie Jones.
SZA’s naturally reflective energy shines through as she emphasizes her core mission as Artistic Director: “My mission is to show that joy, community, creativity, and fashion are all still intersectional. That humanity, culture, and connection are still the access points. I’ve learned that bravery and curiosity are the cures for uncertainty; it’s a lifestyle, and Vans champions that spirit. They stand where I stand, and I’m honored to invite a whole bunch of people to stand Off the Wall with us.”
This isn’t SZA’s first dance with fashion footwear collaborations. She previously took on Crocs in May 2022 and again that December, but this authentic connection with Vans and her creative voice feels particularly aligned.
