Ballerific Fashion: SZA’s VANSZA Collection Is Bigger Than A Typical Sneaker Collab

SZA has collaborated on footwear before, but VANSZA takes her influence much further with apparel, redesigned silhouettes, and a larger creative role at Vans.

Ballerific Fashion: SZA’s VANSZA Collection Is Bigger Than A Typical Sneaker Collab

SZA has been putting her personal stamp on fashion for years, but her new VANSZA collection could mark one of her biggest moves into actual fashion design yet.

A post shared by vans (@vans)

The Grammy-winning singer has unveiled her first full collaborative collection with Vans, blending the brand’s skate roots with the earthy, outdoorsy, and experimental style fans have long associated with her. The collection follows SZA’s appointment as the company’s Artistic Director in August 2025 under a multiyear creative partnership that includes campaigns and exclusive product collections.

That makes VANSZA bigger than SZA simply attaching her name to another sneaker.

The two-part VANSZA rollout spans footwear and apparel built around SZA’s personal style and everyday habits. The first release arrives October 22, 2026, while a second collection is scheduled for April 8, 2027.

The first drop introduces SZA’s take on familiar Vans silhouettes. The Authentic Kickdown features distressed canvas, fish artwork from artist Sage Adams, and a collapsible heel inspired by SZA’s habit of stepping on the backs of her shoes. The black and white Knu Skool Mule takes another recognizable Vans design and turns it into a backless slip-on.

VANSZA also moves SZA beyond footwear. The apparel includes workwear-inspired pieces, denim, fleece, and other designs pulled directly from her wardrobe and personal aesthetic. One fleece set even recreates the look of a worn workwear jacket owned by SZA, making the collection feel more connected to how she actually dresses than a traditional celebrity capsule.

Clothes hung on racks in an orange-lit gallery, with leaf-covered floor and a large tree-root sculpture on the right.

But VANSZA is not SZA’s first time putting her own ideas onto footwear.

Back in May 2022, SZA partnered with Crocs for her first major footwear collaboration. She reworked the Classic Clog and Classic Slide with woodgrain graphics and nature-inspired Jibbitz charms as part of a release tied to Mental Health Awareness Month.

She returned to Crocs later that year for another collection. That release leaned into SZA’s love of throwback style with denim print versions of the Classic Crush Clog and Cozzzy Sandal, paired with jewelry-inspired and nostalgic Jibbitz. The December 2022 collaboration drew specifically from early 2000s fashion.

That history makes the VANSZA collection feel less like SZA suddenly entering fashion and more like an evolution of something she has already been building.

Her Crocs releases gave fans a look at what happens when SZA reshapes footwear through her own lens. With Vans, the scale is much larger. She is working across sneakers, clothing, and creative direction while holding an official role inside the brand. Vans said when announcing her appointment that SZA would help reimagine campaigns and co-create future collections.

The second VANSZA drop pushes that experimentation even further. The April 2027 release will introduce the LX Tabi Hiker, a new split-toe outdoor silhouette in multiple colorways, along with a RealTree camouflage Knu Skool.

So while SZA has already left her mark on footwear through Crocs, VANSZA represents something broader. Instead of simply entering the sneaker world, she is turning years of personal style influence into a fuller design language of her own.
