Tay-K Found Guilty of Robbery and Murder, Faces 5-99 Years in Prison

Texas-bred rapper Tay-K, 19, has been convicted of murder and robbery in the 2016 home invasion that left 21-year-old Ethan Walker dead.

According to local news, a jury found the 19-year-old guilty of murder and robbery after the rapper previously pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery by threats and not guilty to capital murder and a separate count of aggravated robbery. However, according to NBC, the jury found him not guilty of the capital murder charge, which “would have carried a mandatory 40-year sentence.”

But now, in the wake of his conviction, the rapper, whose real name is Taymor Travon McIntyre, is facing “between five and 99 years in prison,” according to NBC.

The incident occurred in July 2016, after the rapper entered Walker’s home with six other individuals. The gunman in the incident was sentenced to life last year, and Sean Robinson, who injured a second man in the incident, was sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to murder in November.

After the incident, Tay K was arrested and placed on house arrest, but famously cut his ankle monitor and released a music video to his song, “The Race,” which detailed his time on the run. However, shortly after the release, the rapper was arrested in New Jersey.

As Tay K awaits sentencing, he is still facing a second capital murder charge for an incident that occurred while he was on the run. Police say the rapper shot and killed a 23-year-old photographer in San Antonio on April 23, 2017, after robbing him of his equipment. Tay-K also faces a slew of lawsuits, accusing him of wrongful death, assault and more.
