Taye Diggs is opening up about being blindsided by Diddy’s arrest on a recent episode of Kate and Oliver Hudson’s podcast, Sibling Revelry, where he claimed to be disappointed in the music mogul’s actions.

“I felt so naive when I heard all that stuff because I was… I don’t know where I was, but all of it blindsided me,” he stated.

Diggs, who once looked up to the music mogul as a major role model, shared how the news about Diddy’s alleged abuse hit him hard.

“He was a hero to me,” Diggs said, explaining how much he admired Diddy growing up. “I loved how he… he didn’t come from much, he started out as a dancer. All the things that I wasn’t, growing up, he was.”

Diggs admired Diddy’s confidence and swagger, adding that he loved how Diddy made being Black cool.

“He had so much confidence and a certain arrogance that I loved, and he made being Black cool,” Diggs said, praising how Diddy wore his Blackness as a badge of honor.

But with all the recent allegations surrounding Diddy, Diggs admitted it was tough to see someone he once idolized in a different light.

“I really put him on a pedestal, and it was disappointing to see some of what happened,” he said. “I couldn’t believe it. And I didn’t like that feeling.”

Despite his personal disappointment, Diggs also recognized the importance of this situation shedding light on deeper issues.

“On one side, I’m like, this is great for people to know that this happens,” Diggs added. “We can think life is to be lived a certain way, we can think a person is a certain way and they can be the exact opposite.”
