While every county in the state of Texas suffers under a winter storm warning that left residents languishing in freezing temperatures with no heat, no power, flooding, and no hot water, Senator Ted Cruz and his family quietly boarded a flight to Cancun, Mexico, for a warm and sunny vacation.
Twitter erupted overnight as photos emerged of the recently re-elected Republican Senator and his family jetting off for a getaway during a natural disaster, causing outrage.
News reports claim at least 21 people have died in the state as a result of the chaos brought on by a freezing winter storm that’s left millions of Texas residents without power.
The National Weather Service (NWS) said that the worst of the storm had moved through Texas. Still, the after-effects keep more than 100 million Americans under a severe winter weather warning as the extreme weather is expected to continue.
Somehow Senator Cruz must have thought things in Texas were under control, and his constituents would manage through the crisis without him, as images of him arriving in Cancun with his family are already all over social media.
