A teenage girl in Kenya took her own life after her teacher shamed her in front of classmates for staining her uniform.
According to the NY Post, Jackline Chepngeno, 14-year-old schoolgirl hanged herself after she was shamed by her class teacher for menstruating and staining her uniform.
Chepngeno attended Kabiangek Primary School and was in class when she suddenly experienced the onset of her first period, the teacher called her “dirty” for getting her period on her clothes.
The girl’s mother Beatrice Keoch told the Daily Nation: “She had nothing to use as a pad,” Keoch told the outlet. “When the blood stained her clothes, she was told to leave the classroom and stand outside.”
The teen returned home from the humiliating incident and hanged herself with a piece of cloth.
A spokesman for the Konoin Sub-County Police said the circumstances surrounding the teen girl’s death is currently being investigated.
How dare her! Why didn’t she just offer her a cloth or pad instead of humiliating something god created of a woman! She needs to be banned from ever teaching again! her license she be taken away. You are taught to TEACH! sometimes out of your means, so if that meant asking questions or teaching this Young lady about her menstrual. if her parents hasn’t already then why bring more embarrassment and hurt to what she is already feeling.
