Terry Crews is opening up about his previous addiction to pornography: “But I have to tell you this…people think it’s a willpower issue, but it’s not. It’s literally a lack-of-information issue.”

On Wednesday, Crews, 52, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! To promote his new audio memoir Stronger Together, and while there, he shared his views on porn addiction. Kimmel jokingly asked if Crews misses watching porn, to which Crews replied: “Not anymore — there were times when I did. I’m good now!”

“But I have to tell you this…people think it’s a willpower issue, but it’s not. It’s literally a lack-of-information issue,” said Crews. He added that “once you know what it does,” it’s easier to know how much of a detriment it will be to your health. “The trick is, you think it’s great,” he said. “Everything works for you until it doesn’t, and that was one of the things I really wanted to get out [there].”

Crews said these days he is “focused on just improving,” but he feels he’s “not allowed” to do that because “everything will get you canceled.”

“But I realized the only way to really grow is to try and make your mistakes on the fly,” he said. “No one gives you a second chance.”

In the meantime, Crews is sharing his story in his memoir, which he shares with his wife, Rebecca King-Crews. In the memoir, the two discuss the highs and lows of their relationship and how they got through it all. “He’s the hero of our story, in my opinion,” King-Crews said of her husband in an interview with PEOPLE. “He made the choice to take this battle on and really become a better person.”

Stronger Together is now available on Audible.

Terry Crews is helping many men overcome porn habits. I’m looking forward to reading his book. Another book that can help those who want to quit porn is Power Over Pornography. Its innovative use of modern psychology is very effective. I highly recommend it.
