When police responded, they found one adult and a student suffering from gunshot wounds. The 15-year-old student remains in critical condition, while the adult has been listed in good condition. Another student was grazed by a bullet but is also expected to survive. A pregnant woman also sustained a fall but declined treatment.
The school was placed on lockdown as authorities searched for the suspect. Simpkins turned himself in via his attorney at around 1:30 p.m. He is facing three counts of aggravated assault.
It is unclear if any of the victims injured were involved in the fight with Simpkins prior to the shooting.
