That’s Baller: Odell Beckham Jr. Receives Mega Deal Worth $95 Million With New York Giants; Becomes NFL’s Highest Paid Wide Receiver

Odell Beckham Jr has become the NFL’s highest paid wide receiver after closing a mega deal with the New York Giants.

According to NFL Network, Odell’s new five-year extension will be worth $95 million, with $65 million guaranteed. The 25-year-old’s new contract now beats out Antonio Brown’s four-year, $17 million a year deal with the Steelers, as Beckham will be receiving $19 million annually. This is also more than Buccaneers’ Mike Evans $55 million deal.

It was reported that Beckham planned on holding out until he got a deal with the extension he wanted, refusing to go into his final year without an extension in place. In an interview with “Uninterrupted” he said he “deserved” to be the highest paid receiver in the league. While Beckham didn’t play in the first three preseason games, he did however show up to training camp and worked under new Giants coach Pat Shurmur. He referred to him not playing in the first three preseason games as a “calculated risk.”

This deal comes months after several negations between the Giants and Beckham’s legal team. In his four-year career with the league Beckham has had 313 catches for 4,424 yards and 38 touchdowns. His career 94.1 receiving yards per game is the second most in NFL history among players with at least 40 games played, second to Julio Jones’ 95.3, according to ESPN.
