On Thursday, one of Michael Jordan’s used jerseys from Game 1 of the Chicago Bulls‘ 1998 Finals sold for $10.1 million.

The eight-figure jersey the hall of fame star wore was sold by renowned New York auction house Sotheby’s, setting a record for sports memorabilia prices.

The record-breaking amount surpassed the $9.28 million paid on May 4 for Diego Maradona’s “Hand of God” World Cup shirt from 1986.

According to ESPN, Jordan wore the jersey for Game 1 of the Bulls’ series against the Utah Jazz on June 3, 1998, the day he went on to win his sixth and final NBA title with the team.

The 1998 Finals jersey worn by the “Jump-man” is the latest piece of sports memorabilia to reach the eight-figure mark. On August 28, the great Mickey Mantle of the New York Yankees had his 1952 Topps card sold for $12.6 million, significantly exceeding Jordan’s “Last Dance” jersey.

The “Last Dance,” a 10-part documentary chronicling Jordan’s historic final season with the Chicago Bulls, made its Netflix debut in July.

The jersey now tops the $2.7 million price tag of Jordan’s last record-breaking sports memorabilia item, an autographed Upper Deck game jersey patch card from 2021.

“The season itself is his ‘magnum opus’ as an athlete, and a testament to him as a champion and competitor,” Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s Head of Streetwear & Modern Collectibles, said.
