The Power of A Black Woman

Who can love a black man better than a black woman? The black woman has the power to destroy a man’s life, or elevate his very existence. There is no in between. The black woman’s power is in her passion; a gift and a curse, depending on how such passion is used. Many black women today, do not understand the unique power within their passion and the fullness thereof. Used passively, from the side of the ego, that passion can and will burn a hole through hell itself. But that same passion used intuitively, intentionally, purposefully and holistically? That same passion can and WILL create a Nirvana, a safe haven and a heaven, for anyone that is lucky enough to cross her path, including the black man. Our black men suffer, dutifully, because we as women, have lost sight of the life-giving, life-affirming power that resides within us, ready to birth humanity in all its glory.

Our men need us, but they need us, first and foremost, to live in our authenticity. Before we can properly love our men, we need to learn to properly love and care for our own selves. Our men need us to discover our innate divinity. Our spirituality. Our uniqueness and our magic. There is nothing and no one like the black woman. Period. Our strength is like no other. We have carried the entire world on our backs. We’ve struggled,= needlessly for generations all because we have put other’s needs before our own. That is our nature. We are caregivers. But is it appropriate to care for everyone but ourselves or have we failed the world, all because we have forgotten ourselves?

Taking care of everyone except us has left us bitter, exhausted and near lifeless. Maybe it’s time for us to be just a bit selfish in our care-taking, if only for a moment, for the benefit of the collective. Maybe we need to take time to soul search, find ourselves and become happy with ourselves, so that energy may inspire and influence the men and children we love so much. Our people need our joy, not our pain. They need our inspirational light, not our soul sucking darkness. Maybe we need to be just a little selfish, so there is in turn, more of us to give. It is better for all, to give out of abundance rather than lack. I need you to hear me. I need you to FEEL me. Find yourself, know yourself, love yourself. The rest will flow freely from there.
