Gwinnett County police in Georgia say three people have been arrested and charged after patrol cars were set on fire with Molotov cocktails outside officers’ homes. The charges are allegations, and none of the three has been convicted.
Police say the fires happened early Wednesday and that the three people tracked officers to their homes. Ebuka, Alvin and Lakaila each face multiple charges.
Officials were called sometime between 10 pm and midnight about a car on fire in Duluth. By the time officers arrived, the fire was out. Shortly after, police received another 911 call about a police car on fire in Lawrenceville. That report described a dark colored car leaving the scene. The fire was put out quickly and left minor damage.
Police say Alvin is charged with two counts of first degree arson, possession or manufacture of a destructive device, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and interference with government property, among other charges. Police say Ebuka and Lakaila face similar charges. A response from the three was not available at the time of publication.
