A Hamilton County grand jury has indicted three men in connection with a deadly 2017 shooting in the Cincinnati area, according to police and prosecutors. The men, Roshawn, 28, James, 23, and Michael, 21, face 22 counts in total. They are charged, not convicted, and are presumed innocent.
The shooting happened on July 8, 2017, inside a home where a gathering billed as a gender reveal party was taking place. Autumn, 22, was killed. Her husband, two children and five other people were hurt. Police said a 911 caller reported two men in hoodies walking past the house before going inside and opening fire.
Investigators said they believe the attack was tied to drug activity. Colerain Township Police Chief Mark Denney told the Cincinnati Enquirer the case hit major roadblocks along the way. “From the very beginning of this investigation, we met significant resistance that is uncommon from victims of crime wanting a resolution,” he said.
Authorities also said the party was not what it appeared to be. According to police, the event was set up for a woman named Cheyenne, who was wounded in the shooting and had said she lost a pregnancy afterward, but investigators said she was not actually pregnant.
The indictments came after a 17 month investigation. Our thoughts are with Autumn’s family and everyone hurt that day.
