Three trans women say they were harassed, attacked and robbed by a group of men on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, and supporters have launched a petition calling for justice.
According to BOSSIP, the women, Eden, Jaslene and Joslyn, shared their accounts on social media. They said the men physically attacked them and stole a phone and money, and that a knife was involved while they waited for a rideshare. Reports say the men had been harassing them before the attack, and the incident was filmed.
“I was robbed, attacked, and jumped in Hollywood tonight,” Eden wrote on Instagram. “I am alive and OK and will update everyone tomorrow.” She said police officers drove by during the incident and that passersby laughed. She also said Jaslene was knocked down and briefly passed out. Jaslene later told followers she is okay and said she does not want the incident swept under the rug.
Joslyn said one of the men threatened her with a crowbar and made threats against her because she is trans, according to BOSSIP.
The Los Angeles Police Department said it is treating the incident as a hate crime. Police described a suspect and asked anyone with information to contact Hollywood Robbery Detectives. No arrests had been announced at the time of this report.
A petition shared online calls on the LAPD’s Hollywood Division to investigate and says the people responsible should be arrested and charged. Baller Alert will update this story as more information becomes available.
