Tia Mowry, half of the Sister, Sister power duo, is stepping into the world of self-care and making sure black women are being represented.

Speaking to BAZAAR.com, Tia said she wanted to start her new multi-vitamin line Anser after looking at other brands and asking herself, ‘where the Black girls at?’

She said her ongoing battle with endometriosis and her lifelong relationship with her natural hair also inspired the venture. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Last month, Tia made the “big chop” to finally embrace her natural hair and documented it on social media. She told BAZAAR.com that she had tried to conform to typical beauty standards since her ‘Sister, Sister’ days, which meant straightening her hair for 20 years.

“Growing up, when I was on Sister, Sister, yes, I started out with curly hair, but then my sister and I, we quickly straightened it, because we got older, and that’s kind of what we thought beauty was, was to have our hair straight,” she said.

“As we got older, there were times when I wore my hair curly on an audition, and they would say that my hair was in the way,” Tia added.

She said that since making the big chop, she has more time in her day, but spoke about the real reason she went through with it.

“If I’m honest with you, I was contemplating about cutting it, but I just didn’t know when would the time be,” she said.” But after Kobe Bryant’s passing, that tragedy and with the coronavirus, and then there was an earthquake in Jamaica, I was just like, ‘This energy, it has to go.’”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

She said the decision to cut her hair says a lot about her journey with her natural hair, and it now feels like she’s coming out and saying, “I’m bold, I’m free, and this is me.”

“My curly hair, the journey—it took a while, but now I’m loving every bit of it,’ Tia said.
