Tiger Woods is recovering after undergoing surgery to repair a ruptured left Achilles tendon, the golf legend announced Tuesday.

In a statement shared on social media, Woods revealed the injury occurred while ramping up his training and practice routine at home. The procedure, described as “minimally invasive,” was performed by Dr. Charlton Stucken at the Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida.

“The surgery went smoothly, and we expect a full recovery,” Dr. Stucken said.

Woods, 49, is now home in Jupiter, Florida, where he plans to focus on recovery and rehabilitation. However, there’s currently no timeline for his return to competition.

This marks another setback for Woods, who hasn’t competed in a PGA Tour event this season following the passing of his mother, Kultida Woods, on February 4. Though he was scheduled to participate in the Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines, Woods withdrew, citing that he wasn’t ready to compete after his mother’s death.

His last tour appearance was at The Open at Royal Troon Golf Course in Scotland last July, where he missed the cut. He has since participated in four TGL matches this season, including Jupiter Links’ 9-1 loss to Atlanta Drive GC on March 4.

The Achilles surgery is the latest in a string of procedures for Woods, who also underwent microdecompression surgery on his lower back in September 2024 to relieve nerve impingement. That was believed to be his sixth back surgery in the past decade.
