Former professional basketball player Tim Duncan has signed on as the new assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs.

It hasn’t been long since Duncan retired from the sport back in 2016, but now the 43-year-old is changing positions as the new assistant coach for the same team he dedicated 19 years to. During his career with the Spurs, the 15-time All-Star won two NBA MVP awards and helped lead the team to win five championships. Despite his tremendous success, some of his achievements are also a nod to the team’s coach, Gregg Popovich, Complex reports.

“It is only fitting, that after I served loyally for 19 years as Tim Duncan’s assistant, that he returns the favor,” Popovich said in a statement to NBA.com. Along with Duncan on the assistant coach side is Will Hardy, who began working with the Spurs as an intern in 2010. Hardy graduated from Williams College and worked his way to the position.

“Will Hardy is a talented, young basketball mind who has earned a great deal of respect from everyone in the organization thanks to his knowledge, spirit and personality,” Popovich said.
