Music producers Timbaland and Swizz Beatz respond to actor Michael Rainey Jr. who called them “sellouts” for selling their performance series “VERZUZ” to Triller.

Last week, news broke that the producers would be selling their VERZUZ music performance series to video application network Triller. Many people have different feelings about the business move, one of those points of view came from the “Power” actor. In his stories, he wrote, “Can’t ever jus have something of our own it’s always bout the money … Cool move but these n***as still sellouts.”

In response, Swizz commented on Instagram, saying, “But we own Triller.” The comment was accompanied by a laughing-crying emoji. “We own everything tell who done that,” added Timbaland. According to Complex, Swizz and Timbaland are large shareholders in the Triller Network.

Rainey responded to their comments, saying, “They made 40+ people large share holders of Triller so that’s wavy.” He added, “But I wish they would’ve just kept full ownership.” Some of their fellow shareholders are Patti LaBelle, Alicia Keys, Brandy, Monica, and more.

“This is a momentous occasion not only for Verzuz and Triller but the music business as a whole,” Swizz Beatz and Timbaland said in their announcement statement on Tuesday. “By putting Verzuz in the Triller Network ecosystem and expanding the Verzuz brand to be side by side with the powerful Triller app, we will be able to continue to grow and evolve the music business as a whole, as we have been doing. To have partners in Triller who share our vision, specifically to celebrate and elevate the amazing artists who continue to shape culture around the world and give the consumer more direct access, is game-changing.”
