Dildo-gate has officially made its way to the NFL, and fans are not amused.

The bizarre trend of sex toys interrupting professional sports, which first gained attention in the WNBA, spilled over into football on Friday, August 22nd. During the Minnesota Vikings’ matchup against the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, a green dildo was spotted on the field just minutes before the game ended. The Titans, who ultimately secured a 23-13 victory, had their cheerleaders mid-performance when a staff member removed the object. ESPN confirmed the matter was reported to the Metro Nashville Police Department. However, no arrests have been made at this time.
Fans immediately took to social media to speak out against the disturbing incident, which mirrors several others that rocked the WNBA earlier this summer. On August 5th, a Dallas Wings game against the New York Liberty saw a green dildo hurled into the stands, striking an underage girl. Charles Burgess, 32, of Dayton, Ohio, was later arrested. That same day, 18-year-old Kaden Lopez was taken into custody after tossing one during a Phoenix Mercury and Connecticut Sun matchup.
A cryptocurrency enthusiast known as “Lt. Daldo Raine” has since claimed responsibility for the WNBA dildos, saying the acts are part of a publicity stunt to promote a digital coin. It’s unknown if they are also behind the NFL sex toy throw.
