Tyra Banks gets called out about her show America’s Top Model every few months. And this time, former contestant Toccara Jones is sticking by Tyra’s side.
The ‘ANTM’ show started trending again after ex-contestant Sarah Hartshorne made claims about the show. Sarah says they were only paid $40, did not get residuals, and had to pay for their food.
Sarah’s statement did make fans call for Tyra to be canceled. However, Toccara Jones says she will not be joining in.
“Of course, you cannot cancel Tyra. No…no there’s not canceling Tyra,” the model says.
Toccara went on to say no one gets paid to be a contestant and the show is just a stepping stone.
“First of all, we didn’t get paid anything. It’s a contest so there’s no payment….the whole purpose of the contest is to win the prize. It’s for the exposure. That $40 was a per diem. So we didn’t get paid technically, no one got paid. Because if someone got paid then there would be legal issues…and they did feed us but we were able to buy our own personal items if we needed to,” Toccara explained.
