The Tory Lanez tour officially kicked off in New York on Friday, and the man whose name is on the flyer was clear across the country in a California prison.
Lanez launched his NOT ON “TOR” TOUR on September 25 at HK Hall in New York. The events are billed as five hour listening experiences with “Tory Lanez & Friends,” built around his catalog, special guests and exclusive merch, including hoodies featuring the cover of his July album, Made You Think I Was Gone …But.
Posts circulating online claim the New York kickoff sold out. No attendance figures have been released, and the “friends” on the bill were never named ahead of time.
Tory announced the run on September 15 with a social media post showing fans dancing to his music alongside the tour dates. After New York, the Tory Lanez tour heads to Los Angeles, Washington, DC, New Orleans and Pittsburgh, wrapping November 13 at Avalon Social in Pittsburgh. Montreal and Toronto dates are expected to be announced later.
The name says it all. He is not on tour. He can’t be. Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, is serving a 10 year sentence after a Los Angeles jury convicted him in December 2022 of three felonies for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the feet after a July 2020 party in the Hollywood Hills. He was sentenced in August 2023.
He has maintained his innocence throughout, but his legal options have narrowed. A California appeals court upheld his conviction and sentence in November 2025, and the California Supreme Court declined to review the case in February.
His time inside has been rough. Lanez was stabbed 14 times by another inmate at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi and was later moved to the California Men’s Colony in San Luis Obispo over safety concerns.
The music has kept coming. He released Peterson in 2025, followed by LOL: Slutty Bass in April and Made You Think I Was Gone …But in July. That double album debuted at No. 23 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart.
The Tory Lanez tour stretches the album listening party into something bigger. Instead of one release night in one city, his team is taking the whole experience on the road without him. Whether he’ll dial in from prison during any of the stops is still unclear. Some reports say he’ll join from behind bars, while the promotional material only mentions his music, DJs and guests.
Either way, the rooms are filling up for an artist who won’t be in them until at least the end of his sentence, and the run is scheduled to keep going through mid November.
