Trey Songz has tested positive for the coronavirus, and now he’s promising to take the diagnosis “seriously.”

The “Bottoms Up” singer announced the news on Monday, in a video he posted on social media.

“Here, with a very important message to let you know that I tested positive for COVID-19,” Songz said in the video. “I’ve taken many tests as I’ve been out protesting, food drives, of course, I have a very young son at home, so I get tested periodically, and this time, unfortunately, it came back positive.”

Songz said he will be taking the necessary precautions to contain the virus in his home, especially after his grandfather died from complications of the virus earlier this year, PEOPLE reports.

“I will be taking it seriously, I will be self-quarantining,” he continued. “I will be in my house until I see a negative sign.”

As he continued in the video clip, he also encouraged his fans to be smart about the virus, instead of following in the footsteps of our COVID-infected leader, Donald Trump.

“I’ve always taken it serious. If you come in contact with COVID, please do the same. Please do the same. Don’t be like the president,” he said of Trump. “Much love and peace, y’all. I thank you in advance for your support [and] your love.”

“Down but not out! Stay safe, y’all! Wear your mask. Wash your hands. 🙏🏾,” he added.
