A judge has postponed the trial for the three former Minneapolis officers accused of participating in the murder of George Floyd.
On Thursday, attorneys for Thomas Lane, J. Kueng, and Tou Thao argued pretrial motions. Judge Peter Cahill said that he would be moving the jury selection in the trial to March 2022 to allow publicity surrounding Chauvin’s trial to slow down.
The three remaining officers were set to stand trial on August 23rd. They have all been charged with aiding and abetting murder and manslaughter. All four officers involved have been charged with allegedly violating Floyd’s civil rights during his fateful May 25th arrest and murder.
Chauvin was found guilty in April of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and manslaughter. He will be sentenced on June 25th. The convicted murderer will likely appeal his sentence.
