President elect Donald Trump’s pick for White House communications director has resigned just days after being named to the job, and a former campaign colleague’s tweets are getting a lot of attention.
Jason Miller, who was named to the role earlier in the week, announced his resignation on Christmas Eve. In a statement, Miller said he had spent the past week with his family, the most time he had been able to spend with them since March 2015, and that it was clear they needed to be his top priority. He said it was not the right time to start a new job as demanding as White House communications director.
Shortly after the announcement, A.J. Delgado, a former Mediaite columnist who also worked on the Trump campaign, posted tweets that people read as a reference to a personal connection with Miller. One of them congratulated her “baby daddy” on being named White House communications director. She reportedly also compared the situation to the 2008 John Edwards scandal. Delgado’s tweets have since been deleted.
Miller’s statement did not mention the tweets, and neither Miller nor Delgado had publicly explained them at the time of this post. Baller Alert will share more if either of them responds.
