As the government shutdown stretches on, Trump’s administration has taken another evil step, asking a federal appeals court to stop an order that would guarantee millions of Americans their full food benefits for November.
A federal judge had instructed the administration to continue paying out SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits despite the shutdown. But Trump’s team quickly appealed, saying the government doesn’t have enough money in its contingency fund to cover the payments.
Even as the administration drags the issue back into court, some states have decided not to wait.
