Donald Trump retweeted a series of tweets on Saturday, making sexist remarks about prominent female Democrats, including Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and Stacy Abrams.
As a conservative Twitter user, John Stahl said of Hillary Clinton, “When I see 1 of those polls that has Malarkey the Racist up 6-8 points everywhere, I’m thinking they must have called the same 1,000 people from 2016 that said HRC the skank was up 6-8%. #maga #tcot #kag.” Trump retweeted the comment for his 80.2 million followers to see.
The tweets didn’t stop there. John Stahl, who is a failed former 2012 congressional candidate, proceeded to shift his attention and attack House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Stacey Abrams, the black female candidate who narrowly lost the 2018 race for Georgia governor’s office. Abrams is a current contender as Joe Biden’s running mate in the 2020 presidential election.
Last week, Pelosi referred to Trump as “morbidly obese” after he said he was taking a non-FDA approved drug as a preventive measure against COVID-19. According to Business Insider, this was after critics cautioned Democratic leaders not to adopt Trump’s “name-calling” ways.
Some political analysts say they believe that Trump’s use of sexist rhetoric may cost him a large part of the female vote this November. The Daily Beast reported last month that Republican advisers also told Trump that his standing among white, suburban, women has significantly dropped since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic.
