Donald Trump is pushing back on calls from within his own party to launch a deeper investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. Speaking from the White House briefing room Thursday, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made it clear: Trump is not recommending a special prosecutor to handle the Epstein case.
Despite ongoing frustration from Republican lawmakers and Trump supporters demanding more transparency and accountability, Leavitt said the Trump believes the Department of Justice, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and the FBI are already the appropriate agencies to handle the situation.
However, she added that Trump is encouraging those agencies to “put forward any additional credible evidence”related to Epstein’s criminal activities.
This comes after both the Justice Department and the FBI concluded earlier this month that there was no solid evidence indicating Epstein had a secret list of clients or that his 2019 death in jail was anything other than a suicide.
Still, public skepticism remains high. Online and among conservative circles, pressure continues to mount for more answers and more action.
But for now, Trump’s message is clear: No special prosecutor. He’s standing by the DOJ and FBI, unless they find new, credible evidence to justify taking things further.
