Donald Trump is claiming a “GIANT WIN” after the Supreme Court ruled in favor of his administration’s effort to restrict birthright citizenship and limit the power of federal judges to issue sweeping nationwide blocks.

In a 6-3 decision, the Court’s conservative majority sided with Trump’s Justice Department, concluding that federal courts overstepped their authority by halting his birthright citizenship executive order across the entire country. The ruling doesn’t decide the fate of the order itself, but it strips away the nationwide injunctions that had blocked enforcement and narrows the scope of judicial intervention going forward.

Trump, who signed the executive order on his first day of his new term this year, declared that children born in the U.S. to undocumented immigrants or temporary visa holders should no longer be granted automatic citizenship. The move immediately sparked backlash and lawsuits from civil rights groups and 22 states. Multiple federal judges issued universal injunctions, effectively stopping the policy nationwide—until now.

Reacting on social media, President Trump wrote, “GIANT WIN in the United States Supreme Court!” and called the birthright citizenship issue a “hoax.” He said the ruling strikes a blow against what he sees as the exploitation of the immigration system. Trump also praised Attorney General Pam Bondi, Solicitor General John Sauer, and the DOJ, and announced a news conference at the White House.

While legal battles over the substance of the order continue, Friday’s decision paves the way for Trump to move forward with enforcement in states not directly involved in the litigation. It also sets a precedent that could reshape how future challenges to presidential policies are handled in court.

For Trump, it’s not just a legal win—it’s political ammunition as he pushes forward with his hardline immigration agenda during his second term in office.
